- Compact satellite communicator for two-way messaging and interactive SOS outside cell coverage (active satellite subscription required)
- TracBack routing retraces your route back to your starting point
- MapShare lets you share live location with others using your coordinates
- Digital compass works even when stationary; syncs with Garmin Explore app for trip planning
- Up to 14 days of battery life in 10-minute tracking mode
This is a renewed unit, inspected and restored to factory settings, not a new device — worth knowing before you click given it's priced the same as some open-box listings elsewhere. It still needs an active Garmin satellite subscription to actually send messages or trigger SOS, which isn't included. Good value for backcountry hikers who want a proven safety device without paying new-unit price, as long as you're fine with refurbished.
