Apple discontinued the old 256GB base config on May 1, 2026 (base now starts at 512GB) and raised the M4 Pro price on June 25, 2026. Both Amazon and Best Buy have been pricing the base M4 config above Apple’s own $799 lately — Apple direct is currently the cheapest place to buy it. Walmart and Target are left off: Walmart’s only base-model listing is a third-party marketplace seller well above MSRP, and the M4 Pro listing was out of stock; Target doesn’t carry Mac mini at all.
