Mac mini prices, compared
Apple replaced the Mac mini on September 22, 2026: the M6 model starts at $899 with 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage, and the M5 Pro model at $1,699. The M4 and M4 Pro models it replaced are listed below the new ones for as long as retailers keep selling them. Walmart and Target are left off: Target doesn’t carry Mac mini, and Walmart’s listings have been marketplace sellers rather than Walmart itself.

Which Mac mini should you buy?
The M6 Mac mini is the default choice for a desktop Mac. The base model’s 256GB of storage is small, though: if you won’t add an external drive, budget for more.
Pick the M5 Pro model for heavy, sustained work — video, large code builds, local AI models — or if you need Thunderbolt 5 and more than 32GB of memory. The M6 model tops out at 32GB.
The outgoing M4 Mac mini is worth a look while stock lasts, but only at a real discount: the M4 base model Apple last sold had 512GB of storage for $799, which is more storage for less money than the new M6 base — at the cost of an older chip.
