Samsung SSD prices, compared

Updated · Prices re-checked weekly · tracking since Oct 8, 2026

Samsung’s three current NVMe drives in the two sizes most people buy. SSD prices rose sharply through 2026, and Samsung’s own store now lists these drives well above what the big retailers charge, so each price also says how far it sits from Samsung’s figure. Each row is the plain drive, without a heatsink, sold by the retailer itself; every price is dated.

Which Samsung SSD should you buy?

The 9100 Pro is a PCIe 5.0 drive. It works in a PCIe 4.0 slot, but only at PCIe 4.0 speeds; if your motherboard or laptop has no PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot, the 990 Pro gives you the same real-world speed for the money.

When the 9100 Pro and 990 Pro sell for about the same, as they often have this year, take the 9100 Pro if you have a PCIe 5.0 slot or might move the drive to one.

The 990 EVO Plus is Samsung’s value drive. It is fine for games and everyday use; it only matters for long, heavy file copies, where the Pro drives hold their speed better.

Don’t pay Samsung’s store price without checking the retailers. On the day this page went up, most of the retailer prices for the 2TB drives were $200 or more under Samsung’s own figure.

Samsung SSD price questions

What is the cheapest Samsung SSD right now?

Samsung 990 EVO Plus (2TB, MZ-V9S2T0B) at $358.00 from Amazon, as of our check on Oct 26, 2026. The tables above have every model and retailer.

Why are SSDs so expensive in 2026?

Flash memory has been in short supply through 2026, and SSD prices rose with it; Samsung’s own list prices for these drives are far above where they were a year earlier. We do not predict when that eases; the weekly readings on this page will show it.

Does the Samsung 9100 Pro work in a PCIe 4.0 slot?

Yes. PCIe is backward compatible, so the 9100 Pro works in a PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot, but at PCIe 4.0 speeds rather than its full PCIe 5.0 speed.

Should I buy the version with a heatsink?

Only if your motherboard has no M.2 heatsink of its own, or for a PS5. The heatsink versions are separate listings at a different price and are not the ones in these tables.

How we check these prices

Every price on this page was read from the retailer’s own product page (Samsung, Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg), and every page is re-read once a week. The date beside each price is the day it was last confirmed. List prices come from the manufacturer’s own store; struck-through prices are the retailer’s own “was” price, never one we worked out. Out-of-stock listings stay in the table, marked, and never count as the lowest price. When a page cannot be read reliably, the previous price stays up with its original date rather than being guessed.

We earn a commission through retailer affiliate links. Price and stock are set by the retailer, not by us.
